Fossils of rose plants dating back some 32 million years... that would make roses one of the oldest flowers on earth and mean that they bloomed during the time of the dinosaur! Their petals are edible and used as flavoring in Indian and Chinese dishes. Roses also grow a berry-shaped fruit called Rose Hips that are packed with vitamin C and used in cocktails.
